Smalltown Supersound announces 10‑track compilation of Norway’s 1990s minimal noise

The label will release ‘Towards A Cosmic Music – Noise Minimalism, Norway, 1991‑2001’ digitally and as a double LP, featuring key artists from the era.

Smalltown Supersound revealed a new compilation titled Towards A Cosmic Music – Noise Minimalism, Norway, 1991‑2001 that surveys the country’s minimal noise output from the 1990s into the early 2000s. The collection comprises ten tracks and includes contributions from notable figures such as Deathprod, Lasse Marhaug, Supersilent and Elektro Nova.

The release will be available both as a digital download and in a 2×LP vinyl format, offering collectors a physical option. In a statement, label founder Joakim Haugland linked the project to the label’s origins, noting that it reflects the period when he launched Smalltown Supersound in 1993 while still in high school and was actively involved in the scene.

The announcement was first reported by The Quietus.
